My Life In Miniature
My obsession with all things miniature began as a child when my mum built me a dollshouse. The joy of collecting tiny objects from dollshouse fairs and hard to find shops was endless. This passion and hobby (along side a love of theatre) led me down the path to a degree in Theatre Design at Wimbledon College of Art, learning and developing skills in set model making along side costume and lighting design. My life in miniatures continued.
Beyond university my career took a less than linear path, a few years as a theatre designer, retraining as a secondary art and design teacher and after a few years of teaching, finally opening a cafe in the heart of South London.
I eventually took time out to start a family and Christmas 2020 I decided that my 4 year old daughter was ready to inherit my childhood dollshouse so I set upon its renovation. The miniaturist in me was re-discovered and the rest they say is history.
I now work across a variety of miniature specialisms and scales keeping a strong sense of sustainability in the forefront of my practice.
